CREEM Magazines for Sale
Turn up the volume with CREEM, “America’s Only Rock ’n’ Roll Magazine.” Original issues are now available for sale at OriginalMagazines.com, giving collectors loud, irreverent, and deeply influential coverage of rock, punk, metal, and everything noisy in between.
A Brief History of CREEM Magazine
First published in 1969 in Detroit, CREEM grew out of the city’s gritty rock scene. Founded by publisher Barry Kramer with critic Lester Bangs later serving as a legendary editor, the magazine ran in print through 1989, with a brief revival in the 1990s.
In 2022, CREEM was relaunched as a digital archive, website, newsletter, and premium print quarterly, carrying its “rock isn’t dead, and neither is print” attitude into the present.
What Made CREEM Stand Out
CREEM stands out for:
-
A wild, sarcastic voice that skewered bands, trends, and even its own readers
-
Early and enthusiastic coverage of heavy metal, punk, new wave, and alternative bands—especially Detroit acts
-
Iconic mascots and visuals, including the “Boy Howdy!” logo
It felt like the loudest kid at the back of the venue, cracking jokes but also spotting the next big thing before anyone else.
