    • "How many times," inquires the justifiably firm autocrat of the supper table, "have I told you not to come to meals with your hands all icky?" And how many times, muses the harassed lad, will mom decide my hands are dirty when they're perfectly clean, except for a few places? Meanwhile, the bigger boy is checking to see whether he is about to hear the lady whisper sweetly, "If you cup your hands while serving, dear, they won't show. A father should set a perfect example—we mustn't insult him, must we?" Artist Jack Welch, who has two sharp-eyed little daughters, wants to know how fathers would like to be a painter and always run the risk of inadvertently showing up at the table adorned with sky-blue pink?
