So one day his son Tony, fed up with his intellectual torpor, dumped the debris out of his mother’s handbag and cried, “See?” Tony then posed for the cover, but when he didn’t also paint it, Dohanos had to do that. It was thoughtful of Tony not to suggest a stag cocktail party with brief cases, for then the collection of odds, ends and junk would have taken longer to paint. To return to the subject, one man who saw this painting exclaimed, “That car key, far right, curiously resembles the one my wife says I lost.” And he rushed home and found the key in her handbag.
