- Autumn’s spectacular leaves are wonderful to look at and scuffle through. One day last fall John Clymer was doing both when ping! his flaming cover theme popped into his head. Asked what he does with his leaves after he is weary of scuffling them, he growled, “Why bring that up?” His Westport, Connecticut, home nestles among myriads of maples, oaks, birches and other bountiful leaf droppers, and by the time the leaves are raked and burned up, Clymer is burned up too. This year he has planned a trip to Oregon in October. Incidentally, the hair on the lad in the picture does not turn that color in the fall; his foliage may drop off at maturity, but he is too young yet to worry about being deciduous.
