- It was Constantino Alajalov’s intention to put a fast one on readers, and on the Post, in his cover painting. About the bridge playing commuters some of whom, as any commuter knows, finish the hand if they have to do it on the platform. The artist hoped to lay out a hand which would contain no slight mistake, such as only real experts would spot. Alajalov doesn’t play bridge himself, but didn’t intend to do so himself. He would get Ely Culbertson to do it. Pleased with his little trap, he phoned Culbertson and asked that his expert friend was in Arizona.
