Description

Vogue Magazine May 1961 Sophia Loren & Anne St. Marie Cover Collage

From a privately held Vogue archive, 1920s–1970s. These were stored away for decades and recently brought back into circulation. We performed light, dry surface cleaning at the outer spine (vacuum/brush/smoke sponge only; no wet methods), then placed each issue in a new archival sleeve.

What to expect: honest vintage traits, binding wear or small splits, staple-rust halos, edge toning, and period shelf dust that can appear as black residue along the spine. Interiors are dry and legible. Some copies retain a light vintage paper aroma typical of mid-century magazines.

Each listing shows the exact issue you’ll receive. Any condition materially beyond the above is noted in that item’s description. These characteristics reflect long, earlier storage before we acquired the collection; all items are now housed in clean sleeves and stored upright.

This is an original Vogue magazine issue from May 1961, featuring an elegant collage cover of Sophia Loren and Anne St. Marie, photographed and composed in Vogue’s signature mid-century modern style. A landmark issue of cinematic allure and high fashion, it celebrates the elegance, intellect, and magnetism of women who defined the era’s beauty ideals. With features on Sophia Loren, photography by Irving Penn and Toni Frissell, and essays by Peter Benchley, Noel Perrin, and Alexander Liberman, this edition exemplifies Vogue’s perfect fusion of art, literature, and design.
